Summary An interview with Steve Collins, a Holocaust survivor, conducted by Eva Lipton. Steve Collins was born on October 7, 1918 in Płońsk, Poland, a small town near Warsaw. Steve recounts life in pre-war Poland and his experiences during the beginning of the Second World War. When the war broke out in 1939, Steve fled to Warsaw and joined the Polish Army to fight the invading German forces. One night during combat, Steve managed to escape back to Płońsk. Steve was placed in the newly formed ghetto. He was then transported to Prussia and from there to Auschwitz
