Summary This program tells the story of Rosa Park's life both before and after December 1, 1955, the day she was arrested in Montgomery, Alabama, for refusing to surrender her seat on a segregated city bus to a white man. Using dramatic reenactments, it recounts what life was like for black people living in the South when segration was the law of the land, and how change was sparked by Rosa Parks's quiet strength and dignity.
