Summary General Baker helped lead the struggle of African-American workers in Detroit in the late 1960s. He founded the Dodge Revolutionary Union Movement the day after he was fired from the Dodge Main plant for organizing a wildcat strike in 1968. Many other revolutionary union movements (RUMs) followed and sparked the founding of The League of Revolutionary Black Workers. Baker was banned from working at automobile factories for his role in the wildcat strikes but, under an assumed name, he worked at the Ford Rouge plant and served as Chairman of the Local 600 UAW. In 1974, he was instrumental in forming the Communist Labor Party and ticket, and ran on the Democratic Party ticket in 1978
