Summary An interview with Miriam Biegun, a Holocaust survivor, conducted by Dr. Sidney Bolkosky, Professor of History at the University of Michigan--Dearborn. Miriam Biegun was born in Zdzięcioł, Poland (Belarus). In 1941, the Germans established a ghetto in Zdzięcioł and she and her family fled the ghetto for the Lipiczanska forest. While in the forest, they joined the Lipiczanska Puszcza resistance. In 1944, Miriam and her siblings returned to Zhetl (Zdzięcioł) to find it in ruins. After a few months, her siblings were sent to a kibbutz in Israel and Miriam was sent to Germany, where she stayed at Ziegenhain and Jäger-Kaserne DP camps. Miriam met her husband while traveling and the two were married in Israel before moving to Winnipeg and Windsor, Canada before finally settling down in Oak Park, Michigan, around 1970
