Summary The story of the life and heroic offering of the Franciscan priest, St. Maximilian Kolbe. In 1941 he was arrested by the Gestapo for his tireless work against the Nazi forces, and sent to the infamous death camp of Auschwitz. There he was used for slave labor, frequently beaten and subjected to humiliations, and in the end offered to take the place of a married man condemned to death by starvation
