Summary Russia's dismal post-Soviet economy has given rise to widespread alcoholism, depression, and divorce. Told from all these women's point of view, this is an often brilliant, funny, and unflinching examination of a cultural reality: the 'mail-order bride' with a clear-eyed certainty about what she is doing, and why
