Summary An interview of Congressman John Dingell conducted by Kae Halonen as part of the Center for the Study of Automotive Heritage's MotorCities Memories Oral History Project. John Dingell, the son of a politician, entered Congress upon the death of his father in 1955. In this interview he talks about the many bills he introduced and helped pass in the U. S. Congress. Many social programs such as social security, health insurance, civil rights and Medicare are included in the discussion. Congressman Dingell also talks about the importance of the auto industry to his home region
